WERKSHOW: 25 Years of the Nexialist Organization – The Video Documents

"Architecture as text, text as sound, sound as architecture." This principle defines the Nexialist Organization since its inception in the year 2000. To mark its 25th anniversary, WERKSHOW looks back at decades of transdisciplinary inquiry and sonic constructivism. WERKSHOW is a comprehensive archive that goes far beyond a standard "best-of" compilation—it is a sonic DNA analysis of more than a quarter-century of work.

Inside the Vault: 100 Tracks & 10 Films
This release is the definitive sonic and visual DNA code of the Nexialist Organization, documenting the evolution from human-machine synthesis to spatial analysis:
  • Digital Edition: Features 30 curated tracks, including 10 exclusive "Anomalies".
  • The Full WERKSHOW: The physical edition contains the complete archive of 90 audio tracks and 10 films in addition to the Digital Edition.
  • Physical Archive: A custom night-black USB edition (strictly limited to 10 copies).
  • Exclusive Art: Includes a custom artcard and button designed by artist Liis Roden.
The Visual Dimension: WERKSHOW features 10 video documents revealing manifest audible architecture, including:

CRITICAL VOID, 2013
A site-specific audio analysis and performance, Critical Void examined the planning crisis of Munich’s MaximiliansForum through sound, dialogue, and documentation.
Critical Void is an analytical audio work based on an urban study of Munich’s MaximiliansForum and its complex planning history. Developed by Z’EV and Mark Kammerbauer, the project combined interviews, archival research, and live performance into a sonic investigation of urban transformation.

XENAKIS EMULATOR, 1999
An audiovisual homage to architect–composer Iannis Xenakis, Xenakis Emulator recreated the structural logic of his composition Metastaseis and Le Corbusier’s monastery facade La Tourette through synchronized digital sound and animation. Created by Mark Kammerbauer and Alexandra Schnellbögl in 1999, Xenakis Emulator stands as an early expression of the Nexialist ethos: architecture as sound, sound as design.

NEXIALIST OPERATION MIMESIS, 2004
A site-specific sound operation conducted within an architectural space, Mimesis transformed a building’s pneumatic facade into a resonant instrument, revealing the acoustic identity of architecture itself.

FRAGMENT KING LIVE ALTENBURG, 2007
Fragment King recorded and mixed ANGEL POSITION between 2007 and 2012. Bazooka mastered the recordings in 2012 for the 2014 original album release on Maurizio Blanco's and Boris May's MHz label. In 2022 the album was released in a Fragment King 25th Anniversary Special Edition with completely new artwork and packaging created by Liis Roden. The song "Mobilized" was performed live at Elektroanschlag in Altenburg and filmed by Stefan Wille-Böttjer (Antikoerper).

URBAN EVOLUTION, 2007
A public-space performance in Weimar, Urban Evolution visualized cycles of construction and destruction to explore the city as a living, self-transforming system. Urban Evolution demonstrates how voids and remnants can embody history, how the aftermath of transformation can itself become architecture. Created by Mark Kammerbauer and Arne Löper, the performance bridged art, research, and urban theory in an embodied form of spatial discourse.

THE.BÄND WITH MARCELO AGUIRRE, 2008
A collaboration between experimental percussion and industrial music legend Z’EV, Alexandra von Bolz’n, and Fragment King, The Bänd combined percussion, bass, and voice into an extreme, physical form of metal-drone performance art. For the live performance at Gallery Wallywoods in Berlin in 2008 Marcelo Aguirre ( Æternum Sacro, Evil Spirit) joined on drums.
